In honor of National Volunteer Week, Destination Hilliard is sponsoring a volunteer fair and reception slated for Wednesday, April 15, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church in the gymnasium. This is a great opportunity for families or students who need community service hours or adults who want to become involved in the community.

A number of Hilliard organizations need volunteers to work on special projects, assist in planning events, serve as docents or on boards to name a few opportunities. The time commitment can be one time for a few hours or on a regular basis, and can accommodate any busy schedule. Eagle Scouts and students looking for community service hours are encouraged to attend! Organizations who set up informational tables last year included Capital Area Humane Society, Patches of Light, Hilliard Farm Market, Serving Our Neighbors Son Ministries, Franklin County Agricultural Society, Hilliard Ray Patch Family YMCA, Rotary Club of Hilliard, Hilliard Kiwanis Club and Northwest Franklin County Historical Society. Organizations who would like to participate can contact Destination Hilliard at cclark@destinationhilliard.com.

“This is a great opportunity for residents and students to learn about volunteer opportunities in the community in an informal setting” stated Destination Hilliard Executive Director Christy Clark. “We hope attendees will be inspired to connect with the community, while making it a better place to live, work, and visit.”

Also, a Volunteer Recognition Reception will be held at 6:40 p.m. honoring individuals who have dedicated their time and resources in making Hilliard a better community. Honorees include

Tom and Donnette Calhoon for Hilliard Arts Council, Christopher Lardiere for Hilliard Optimist, Lori Lee for Hilliard Kiwanis Club, A.C. & Theresa Montgomery for Hilliard Historical Society, Don & Shirley Russell for Franklin County Agricultural Society, Stan & Kelly Willis & Willis and Willis Law Firm for Serving Our Neighbors, SON Ministries.

National Volunteer Week, April 12-18, is about inspiring, recognizing and encouraging

people to seek out imaginative ways to engage in their communities. It’s about demonstrating to
the nation that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals.
